W. Michael Smith, M.D.

W. Michael Smith, M.D. has been in the practice of Family Medicine since 1991, having trained at the University of Kentucky College of Medicine, where he earned his Doctor of Medicine degree in 1988. He completed residency in Family Medicine at UK in June 1991. He served in the leadership role of Chief Resident in Family Practice 1990-91.

He practiced Family Medicine in Flemingsburg, KY from 1991 to 1999 at which time he relocated to Kingsport, TN joining Mountain Region Family Medicine. He serves on various committees including Mountain Region Family Medicine’s Board of Directors and Wellmont Physician Services Board of Directors.

He maintains board certification with the American Board of Family Medicine and membership in the American Academy of Family Physicians. He has been recognized as one of America’s Top Family Doctors.

Always eager to grow and learn new ways to help patients and provide services in his office that patients would otherwise have to seek elsewhere, Dr. Smith developed an interest in aesthetic services and has completed training in Intense Pulsed Light Therapy (IPL) for treatment of pigmented lesions, vascular lesions, hair removal and photo rejuvenation. He also received training in Botox injection, tissue fillers, and sclerotherapy to further help his patient achieve their beauty goals.
